Biography, All About Jayne...
Dr. Jayne Seagrave is Marketing Director for the Vancouver Tool Corporation (www.vancouvertool.com)
a company she established with her partner in 1996. Vancouver Tool has successfully managed to market a number of brand new, patented
inventions for the home improvement industry to every major home improvement retailer in North America. The Company has also achieved
export sales of their distinctive range of sealant and caulking tools to several European countries. She is a British Columbian
best selling author of six books including; From the Mind to the Marketplace: The Story of an Inventor, the Home Improvement
Industry, His Wife and Her Lovers ( www.heritagehouse.ca ).
Jayne is on the Board of the Worldwide Do-It-Yourself Council and has worked as a mentor for the BC Forum for Women Entrepreneurs.
Jayne is a frequent speaker at international conferences and symposiums on issues pertinent to the home improvement industry, including the changing influence women are having on home improvement retailers and manufacturers, selling new products and innovations to large retailers and how small and medium sized firms can access European and North American markets. Her recent international speaking engagements include:
- An address to the European Federation of DIY Manufacturers Meeting in Barcelona, Spain;
- Presentations at the last Practical World Fair in Cologne, Germany;
- A talk to The Adhesive and Sealant Council of America’s Conference in Savannah, USA;
- A power point presentation to the Retail Management Club of Brussels, Belgium.
- Conference address to a one day symposium on Women and the DIY Industry, Athens, Greece.
In addition to international engagements Jayne also gives presentations to Canadian businesses, organizations
and academic institutions.
More About Jayne...
Originally from England, she moved to Canada in 1991 and lives in Vancouver, British Columbia with her husband and two
young sons. Prior to establishing her company she was an academic criminologist with over twenty publications including the first
introductory text book on policing in Canada, a text which is still used today. Her early academic achievements include scholarships
from The Rotary Club, The Commonwealth Commission and The International Peace Women’s Group. She is also author of four guide
books on traveling and camping in British Columbia which have sold over 50,000 copies and often speaks to the local media on tourism
issues.
Since 2005 we have been so grateful that Jayne Seagrave became part of our international network. Her book and her story about how a small invention became a great business, was extremely inspiring for lots of European suppliers and retailers who attended the FEDIYMA European DIY and Home Improvement Forum in Brussels in 2005.
